Gilfillan Farm
The Gilfillan Legacy
Upon Margaret Gilfillan's passing in 2001 at 100 years of age, the Historical Society of Upper St. Clair took ownership of the 15 acre Gilfillan Farm. In Margaret's will, she made clear her desire for the property to be maintained and utilized for the community.
Margaret Gilfillan's Will Codicil
[I]t is my firm intention that the Historical Society shall operate on such property a model working farm which shall be open to the public at reasonable times and which shall serve to educate the public as to life on a traditional farm in Pennsylvania. In the event that is should ever become impracticable to operate a model working farm on such property, after taking into consideration all available alternatives and all available sources of funding, it is then my intention that the Historical Society shall utilize such property as an appropriate historical, cultural or educational center and landmark, reflecting in whole or in part the past usage of the property by the Gilfillan Family.
